Celebrate Christmas in Music

Whether you know it or not, one of the most wonderful features of The Salvation Army is its music. Put aside the weary kettle duet out in the cold and the oft ridiculed street corner ensemble, the real SA music is first class. It’s also almost always voluntary.

Tonight we thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas music of the Torrance Corps presented at the James Armstrong Theatre in Torrance, California. we are blessed for being there. The Tabernacle Children’s Chorus led by Barbara Allen was exceptional as always. The Torrance Corps Band and Songsters too offered superbly. Their numbers are growing significantly in recent months.

A special feature of the program was the vocal duet of Captain Annalise Francis and Erin Riesebieter singing Pie Jesu by Andrew LLoyd Webber. Erin too sand the Shepherd’s Song arranged by Geoff Richard. Both of these items were accompanied by the band.

Majors Brian and Millie Bearchell led the evening with class and inspiration.

Come to the Army. It’s amazing!

“I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can’t produce a thing. Anyone who separates from me is deadwood, gathered up and thrown on the bonfire. But if you make yourselves at home with me and my words are at home in you, you can be sure that whatever you ask will be listened to and acted upon. This is how my Father shows who he is—when you produce grapes, when you mature as my disciples. “I am the Vine, you are the branches.
