Contemporary Culture

Have you sorted out contemporary culture and found your place? I wish you well with that.

I’m thinking, today, it’s not as hard as you might believe.

Contemporary culture is fast moving and engaging, slippery, and resolved, and can I say, a little too serious about itself.

The speed with which this culture is moving can take your breath away, as well as make you dizzy. Just knowing that fact, however gives one insight as to how to reckon with it. Know that it won’t remain as is for long. That speaks volumes to the depth of commitment to it by anyone n the culture. You can’t fix on much as fast as its all moving. That’s what makes it so slippery as well. Just when you might be getting it, it shifts.

The culture as they see themselves are more cause driven than casual. They are interested more in purpose than frivolity. Good for them. It better have quick returns, though, as I’m guessing the attention span won’t tolerate the long term.

All this is why I suggest they shouldn’t take themselves so seriously. Happy for them to be different, as all generations require, but in that the are actually the same, although spinning.

I’m intrigued by it all and expect that at the end of their day, they too will sit down and realize their culture was contemporary one day.

“Don’t seek revenge or carry a grudge against any of your people. “Love your neighbor as yourself. I am God. Leviticus 19:18 MSG

Perhaps our place in contemporary culture is to be calm in the chaos, choosing Christ over crisis!
