I’ve read many books about leaders, their qualities, behavior and traits, but I have yet to meet the person. Notwithstanding The Lord, Himself, the guides for leaders describe such perfectionist concepts, that when added together, make the bearer imaginary…in my opinion.
I met with a good leader today. He was intelligent, discerning, compassionate and visionary. We have many in The Salvation Army. Some are officers. Some are employees. Some are volunteers. We are a blessed movement.
Are they all perfect? Close.
Good leadership is recognized in the eye of the good follower.
1 Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.
