The great Norman Vincent Peale was the most influential theologian to bring the force of “positive thinking” to my attention. There have been others who have indirectly impacted my own hopes for every day, but Peale declared it with his every energy.
He was known to have said the following:
“Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.”
“Change your thoughts and you change your world.”
“Stand up to your obstacles and do something about them. You will find that they haven’t half the strength you think they have.”
Can we take a constructive approach to life?
How about these quotes?
“I’ve learned by now to be quite content whatever my circumstances. I’m just as happy with little as with much, with much as with little. I’ve found the recipe for being happy whether full or hungry, hands full or hands empty. Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am.” Philippians 4
“You can be sure that God will take care of everything you need, his generosity exceeding even yours in the glory that pours from Jesus. Our God and Father abounds in glory that just pours out into eternity.” Philippians 4
