I have a deep concern for those who have lost their way. Are you one of them or do you know someone? Of course you do. Are they lost and without hope? Proceeding without the grace of God, they’re gonners. Ultimately, the choice was theirs. One isn’t victimized into this state. External pressure can be immense, but the choice to be lost is personal.
I’m thinking more of believers in this conversation who have lost their hope or have transgressed their faith in God by an unfaithful choice. Some would point directly to the first question Jesus asked as recorded in Matthew in the sermon on the mount:
Matthew 5:13 (NIV2011)
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
He’s so right, but His life reveals the solution as well. A person has no hope to regain their holy flavor apart from a miracle…the miracle of a forgiving, loving Savior, who will restore value to your life for the repentance and asking.
Let us not become quick to condemn, but rather seek the Lord for the miracle of grace.
