Ready for Summer?

When we think of summer, images of vacation, picnics, beach time and visiting special places come to mind. We expect the sun to shine and for the rain to hold off, unless we need the water.

In years past, summer slowed life down a bit. That isn’t much the case anymore. Schedules remain tight and work continues like always. Our Camps are in full swing with staff orientations almost over and campers preparing to come. In the USA Western Territory, many children come to faith at camp and the staff deepen their relationship with God. It’s mostly all good.

As I write this, our Southern California Youth Band is on tour in Brazil. Can you imagine them being there in the middle of the World Cup? All a part of the Master’s plan.

Next week, the Western Territory Staff Band heads out to Norway for a Congress there…and our summer service corps teams are over the globe, ministering faithfully. Hallelujah!

Summer’s here. So is God, leading us to new heights and blessed opportunities.

“Calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to saving yourself, your true self. What good would it do to get everything you want and lose you, the real you? What could you ever trade your soul for?” Mark 8:36 MSG
