Who would have thought how engaged we are in social media? It wasn’t so long ago that we only had print media and electronic media, meaning newspapers and magazines, then radio and tv. Now we have a very dominant influence on our cultural landscape called social media.
Perhaps it’s not such a big surprise, as it was previously known as gossip and many were most interested in such. We even had what we called gossip columnists to whet our appetites and set our imaginations aflame. These reporters mostly confined their interests to celebrities of cinema, politics and royalty. Today we have Entertainment Tonight and other shows that capture a large audience who follow the nuances of popular lives.
So social media brings it home. Thank goodness there’s not a Bible verse decrying or decreeing social media. We can leave it up to our own moral conclusions to determine the good or bad of it. Alas, it’s all not good nor bad. More decisions for us…or is it more choices?
Well, I’ll just have to tweet this to see what the socially inclined have to say about it. May be I should have mentioned the color of Carolyn’s favorite dress to make it more interesting…which is to say controversial…
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
