The Utter Relief of Holiness

John Eldredge has been a favorite author of mine for many years. Since reading his “Wild at Heart”, I have kept an eye open to his work. He’s a Christian writer that clearly has an understanding of the male in us and how we can best relate to God and each other.

In this work he calls us to know “how God’s goodness frees us from everything that plagues us.” He answers the question,”What is Christianity supposed to do to a person?” The answer is found in the statement, “To make people whole and holy, by his (God’s) love,” and to “Make you whole and holy by his love.” “God is restoring the creation he made. What you see in Jesus is what he is after in you.”

Formerly with Focus on the Family, John now leads Ransomed Heart Ministries, a ministry devoted to furthering Christian spiritual life.

I recommend the book highly to men and women alike. John reminds us that holiness is not a rule book to follow, but a life and relationship to enjoy.

“Take good counsel and accept correction— that’s the way to live wisely and well. We humans keep brainstorming options and plans, but God’s purpose prevails.” Proverbs 19:20-21 MSG
