We have our traditions. They go beyond habits and take on a more substantial standing in our lives. Often, they are the things we do that we like, so we repeat them to our comfort.
They can be annual experiences, like going to a special place every summer or engaging in a special practice at a special time or in conjunction with another event. Like, every time we go to the pier, we get pier fries. It becomes a good tradition. We look forward to it as we approach the opportunity and we are satisfied when we enact the tradition.
Some traditions cannot be maintained forever. A different role in life or people now missing who were always a part of the tradition. The tradition has changed. Now what do we do?
Be thankful for the traditions that brought you comfort and look for the new ones that make up your life. Enjoy the comforts.
