When do we, as Christians feel at home?
When I watch the news or even read the news, I wonder if I’m on the right planet. When I hear of racial attacks and discrimination against people of different faiths, I wonder just where do I belong? Walk through the mall sometime, or look at the magazine rack at the convenience store. Do all these images and attractions ring true with you? Not me…
I found a place where it feels like home. It’s the Wesleyan Holiness Consortium. I’m as comfortable there as I am with my fellowship, The Salvation Army. Here you have dedicated, Bible-believing, loving, hoping, personalities that take you for your best, not quick to argue or to find fault. So was my experience this past week where we gathered at the great Azusa Pacific University for a day of inspiration. Tackling serious issues of the day, like LGBTQIA, multi-cultural fellowships and thirdly, the role of women in leadership, there was serious and disciplined dialogue added to the comfortable fellowship.
This group represented the Southern California section of the WHA. Undoubtedly, you can find a similar group near you. They host a website at: http://www.holinessandunity.org/ You will find resources, inspiration, and people with whom you can connect who know Jesus.
I recommend it.
Do not those who plot evil go astray? But those who plan what is good find love and faithfulness.
